Digital transformation is beyond some benefits. It will soon become a hygiene factor where if the enterprise is not digitally integrated, it will not be able to compete with the ones which has been digitally transformed. This makes it a point even relevant for business continuity and growth.
Edible oil and bio-diesel firm Emami Agrotech has now started focusing on digital transformation wherein it is trying to digitally connect the enterprise with various external stakeholders as well as processes to create end-to-end digitally connected assets.
Ashok Cherian, CIO, Emami Agrotech is a busy man, working on various digital transformation projects running parallel at the Kolkata-based firm. One of the major achievements for Cherian in his career is transforming the entire sales process.
“In past, I have had the privilege of driving digital transformation in sales processes including consumer connect with the sales team. A transformation, powered through mobility, was a great boost to the enterprise’s efforts to integrate customers not just with the sales teams but also with all related stakeholders within,” says Cherian.
Clear benefits from the deployment included not just an increase in sales and profitability but customer satisfaction too. Productivity levels scaled new heights and provided priceless analytic insights.
To further improve the connect with the customers, Cherian had also worked on establishing a digital and integrated customer loyalty platform. This was not just a digitally integrated end-to-end process but a new digital approach that leveraged a combination of web, mobility, SAP, E-banking and IT-enabled services. Agile and robust yet simple, it enabled fraud elimination over the previous non-digital process. Digital integration was end-to-end and won appreciation from the customers and trade channels apart from generating smart savings for the enterprise.
Leveraging his in-depth understanding and experience in Digital Transformation, Cherian has stitched together a forward looking Digital Strategy for Emami Agrotech and has started working on creating digital capabilities for the business.
Cherian feels every CEO will soon be forced to look at it as the heat spreads and will initiate action. It is beyond IT agenda and becomes an integral part of the business agenda. Clearly, the next wave of business growth and leadership will be powered by digital transformation, feels Cherian. Digital assets will become as important as traditional assets like plant and machinery and will infuse agility, customer delight and smarter margins into the business.
For Emami, the long-term agenda is that digital transformation must be accepted by every individual in the enterprise. At Emami Agrotech, the Senior Management sponsorship is strong and Cherian is working in helping them drive the change management as well.
“Only when everyone owns it, we can say digital transformation is here not just to stay but is also going to be the lifeline of the enterprise. I wish to digitally connect every process within and digitally integrate all stakeholders outside the enterprise in a simpler and smarter manner and create solid digital assets which will bring in business differentiation,” puts in Cherian.
