Reducing costs, increasing efficiency and all of that comes up when we go about integration of major pointers including IoT, mobility and analytics. There are four pillars we comply with: SMAC viz Social Media, Mobility, Analytics and Cloud.

By the end of this fiscal, conglomerate Jakson Group is expected to touch revenues of Rs 3,000 crore and to support this growth, Manoj Kumar, CIO, Jakson Group, has a few strategies in place. “We have big plans in terms of IoT and bigger ones in terms of analytics and social media marketing. Moving forward, we will seek help of google analytics for email marketing,” says Kumar.

However, the more significant changes in the group can be seen on the manufacturing front. The company is in the process to automate the plant process and its manufacturing process. Kumar is looking at how to automate the traditional systems of the company and how to reduce the rejection and increase the production. “If I can increase production by 5 per cent and reduce rejection by 3 per cent, it will be a big gain for the company,” Kumar opines.

“You not only have to align with the business but have to partner with it, internally and externally. How to gain the market share and reduce the costs are the areas we are probing along with other business functions and aligning with them,” he says.

Kumar is, at present, playing a larger business role wherein he is looking at how he can help the business grow. This means looking at ways to improve business efficiency. “If you improve business efficiency naturally, your business will grow. How can you achieve new business and how IT will help accomplish the same is what I am talking about,” explains he.

adds Kumar. He puts in that almost all the systems at Jakson Group are on Cloud now. “We have the core applications in-house only.”

It all boils down to how can the company connect with the customer. “If you connect with the customer with IT adding value to the process, you can delight the customer. The idea is to solve the problem as quickly as possible and reduce the turnaround time. Apart from that how can we give better facilities to the customer is critical,” says Kumar.

Kumar has prepared a three-year digital transformation plan for the Jakson Group. “Lot of things have started and are ongoing in terms of IoT, Mobility, Analytics, Cloud and Social Media. To measure RoI in blueprint, you must have knowledge of business. If you understand business, you can understand RoI. What are the pain areas and what can we do to align it with the business to gain benefit is RoI,” explains Kumar.
