Every digital transformation should reach the mobiles of each employee of the organisation. There are departments where digital transformation is required like HR.The projects and few migrations are in line for SAP HANA which is ready for implementation at one of the manufacturing units.

A sector that has been proactive in adopting technology in India is retail with several players in the segment trying to use technology, from sourcing to the retail point of sale. Ajay Srivastava, Head-IT, S Mobilty, says he has worked on mobility solution as far as business enterprise applications are concerned, launched retail apps for retailers where the retailers are able to view the inventory of linked distributors based on their inventory status to the retailers being able to place an order and track all the transactions.

Besides, now retailers can view the invoice status along with discount offerings and other schemes based on the invoice value and quantity, he says, adding the retailers now need not call the office or the sales team to know about the state of their orders or claim settlements as all this can be done through their smart phones with the help of retail apps. S Mobilty has successfully integrated the company bank account with SAP financial module to get an updated status at any point of time without manual intervention.

“For any organisation, the goals are set by the top management and percolates down to each level below. Every function is geared up and cooperates in their respective functions and handhold each other to achieve the set goal, be it digital or non-digital transformation. Work as a team, cooperate with each other and achieve your goals is the mantra for success,” adds Srivastava.

He further puts in that the main objective for digital transformation is to keep a boundary-less culture.

On the changing role of CIOs, Srivastava says that during the digital transformation stage, CIOs find themselves in transition phase. They are no longer just operators of traditional IT infrastructure maintenance jobs but they multifaceted digital “frontiers men” trying to find their place in an evolving enterprise. As technological advancements increase, CIOs too must evolve with the changes and adapt to new roles and responsibilities, he adds.

Modern CIOs are tasked with the challenges of having to create business value, develop innovative business processes, deal with IT consumerisation, take on the big data challenge, drive the implementation of digital technology, manage shadow IT and facilitate an increasingly mobile workforce.
